Parish Support Group

A Parish Support Group was established in the autumn of 2024. It is made up of volunteers from the parish and its role is to co-ordinate all the routine tasks which are needed for the day-to-day and year-to-year running of the parish. It aims to work in harmony with the priest responsible for Holy Cross, who remains answerable to the Bishop for everything that happens in the parish.

The formal recognition of the Parish Support Group highlights the co-responsibility (synodality) which exists between the baptised and the priest for the life of the parish. It reflects key elements of the recent Synod on Synodality in Rome, encouraging listening, dialogue and discernment in decision-making and expecting the laity to take a full role in the mission of the church.

Would you like to get involved?

There are many tasks to be done, requiring a variety of skills, for example, reading at Mass, flower arranging, being a steward at Sunday Mass, cleaning, singing in the choir and many others. Help is always welcome. We have job descriptions for most of the tasks, which will help give you an idea of what is done. If you are interested in getting involved, please email exeter-holycross-info@prcdtr.org.uk.
